7 reasons to switch to led bulbs

More and more people decide to switch from traditional bulbs to LED bulbs. It is easy to understand why - after reading seven reasons listed below! Why not learn more about LED lighting? Why not make the change for the better? Why not improve lighting quality, reduce costs and add ambience to your place?

What are LED bulbs?

The LED bulb is not really a bulb technically. It's the solid-state lamp. LED stands for "light-emitting diode". This diode uses the current power - it is used as electric power. In other words, the LED bulb is a small-sized semiconductor. It's wrapped in plastic and it's supposed to protect every single element and focus the light.

Filaments? There aren't any. Instead, there are two electrodes. Thanks to them, electricity passes through and is transformed into light by the semiconductor. The LED bulb is eco friendly and durable. We can use LED bulbs everywhere we want, on any occasion.

Why is it worth switching to LED light bulbs?

There is no doubt that IT IS WORTH to switch to LED bulbs. There are many arguments for choosing them - energy efficiency, long lifespan, saving a lot of money, high availability, no mercury, no UV emission and no humming sounds. Check details below!

1. LEDs are energy-efficient

The main difference between LEDs and traditional light bulbs is the amount of power both of them need in order to produce the same amount of light. Incandescent lighting requires five times more power than LED lighting! The difference is huge. What's more, LEDs produce little heat, compared to incandescents, fluorescent and halogen bulbs. LED lighting is undoubtedly more energy efficient.

2. LED lights have long lifespan

LEDs' long lifespan is another reason to choose this kind of lighting. It lasts much longer than incandescent lighting. Good quality LED bulbs can last from 30,000 to even 50,000 hours! They can last several years without needing a replacement. If you want to use them for eight hours a day, they will probably last for ten to even seventeen years, depending on their quality and various different factors.

3. LED bulb is a long term investment

LED bulbs are known for their low maintenance costs. They represent a better solution than incandescent bulbs, which may seem to be cheaper at first. Traditional lights cost less, however, betting on LED lights is a better option over the long haul. Incandescent bulbs burn out really quickly. Because of that, there is a necessity for buying new ones over and over. It's not going to happen with LEDs. After buying yours, you will enjoy the lighting for several years. LEDs are worth the price! Summing up - LED bulbs will save your money!

4. There's a variety of colours available

LED lighting is directional. It means it's easy to focus the light exactly where it is needed, unlike incandescents. Moreover, there is a wide range of LED bulbs available in many different colours and tones. You can choose between warm white and cool white.

Sometimes we need a punchy, saturated colour effect. We can easily get colourful LED bulbs which give great theatrical and accent lighting effects. Generally, LEDs are accessible in every desired colour - RGB colours, so red, green, blue, but we are also allowed to mix the various colour components. In the case of incandescent bulbs - this would be impossible.

5. LED bulbs are mercury free

Hopefully, there is no mercury in LED bulbs. It makes these lights environmentally friendly. Why? Because mercury is toxic and it can do a lot of harm to the human body. Incandescent bulbs are not that safe. It can be concluded that LEDs prevent people from the negative effects of mercury contained in traditional lights.

There's a real danger, because this metal may be the reason why people start dealing with hallucinations, delirium and even suicidal tendency. Due to mercury exposure, people may feel exhausted and irritated. It happens that it also causes vivid dreams, loss of memory and depression.

6. LED lights are UV emission free

LED lighting never emits ultraviolet radiation, which is usually not visible to the human eye. However, seeing it is possible when the ultraviolet range is above 400 nm. Usually, the radiation range varies between 10 nm to 400 np. There is a line - we do not see ultraviolet light with less than 300 nm.

Why is ultraviolet radiation dangerous? No doubt it is, because it may lead to skin cancer. It may also cause eyestrain or headaches. This is why people deal with premature ageing. Incandescents are not UV emission free, unlike LEDs.

7. LED lighting is also hum free

In the case of bulbs, being hum free means not emitting any droning sound. We associate fluorescent bulbs with humming sounds and it's really irritating. What we're talking about is the low frequency noise - 50 or 60 Hz. Because of this noise pollution we cannot collect our thoughts. Humming sounds cause fatigue, hyperactivity and inability to concentrate. Children and your people in particular should not be anywhere near humming sounds.

Switching to LED light bulbs is definitely the best thing you can do for your home. That's not all - LED lighting is always a good idea, also in restaurants and offices. They produce little heat. They can last many years. They are safe and they look attractive. This is all you need when it comes to lighting!
