Updating Kitchen lighting

If you want a breath of fresh air for your kitchen, one of the best options apart from a renovation is to change the lighting of all the kitchen. Adding new light sources and new types of lighting for different uses, giving a new appearance to the kitchen and renewing the aesthetics of the room.

Most old kitchens usually have some light fixtures on the ceiling and only on the ceiling. For the kitchen appearance this was bad, this only provided ceiling lighting, and for some kitchen activities that is very bad, for example for measuring or cutting food it is really important to have a specific light with great brightness that provides a very clear visibility to avoid dangers for the cooker.

That’s why the recent kitchen designs had considered these dangers and now it is very common to have incorporated under, over and in cabinet lighting, pendants or even recessed lights giving a better lighting. This new type of design creates proper task lighting to highlight all the important areas or things of the kitchen.

Here are some important factors to consider for update the kitchen lighting:

Visibility:  The kitchen is a space that needs a really good visibility for the tasks to do. In the kitchen you need to chop up vegetables, meat… Measure different things, have a good light to identify if the food is in good condition, and read recipes… Having good lighting makes all these tasks much easier than with a bad light or low brightness.

Aesthetics: If the work area looks nice you will feel better when you have to do something on it. And also for the visits, they will see a good looking kitchen and think about how good it looks.

Safety: As we said before, with good and bright lighting we have more visibility and we can avoid a lot of hazardous things for us or our family, for example when cooking or cleaning, you can see much better all the dangerous things and have an eye on them. For task lighting you can buy recessed lights, LED strips (And also with the LED profiles) or wall lights.

We recommend to have recessed lighting for the ceiling, or under-cabinet lights to achieve a cleaner and visually bigger space. These lights are perfect when you have an issue of lighting under cabinets or difficult places to light up.

For the tasks space a good choice are the LED strip lights, or maybe spotlights to light the specific zone to work

For general lighting, any ceiling LED can light the whole room with great brightness.
